About Us
In 1994, after many years of heading up marketing and sales of the wholesale division at Baker's Square, Ray King decided to strike out on his own and founded DessertWerks. His experience at Baker's Square provided him with invaluable market insight and understanding of WHAT THE PEOPLE WANT! ....and when it comes to desert... well, let's just say these cravings are tricky to satisfy. But that's the thing, Ray knew how to do it right.
Fast forward 25 years to 2019. Ray's recipes are a hit! The Carrot Cake is a best seller each year since its inception, clients threaten to start a revolution if Grandma's Chocolate cake is ever discontinued, and the cheesecakes are flying off the shelf. Cakes are shipped far and wide, to customers like Paul Harvey Jr. and David Letterman.
Heather A. Peterson - LATE SHOW with David Letterman
"Dear Ray - Thanks for the best carrot cake this office has ever tasted, and thanks for taking the time to ship it to us. We loved every last bite! Please let me know if we can return the favor. Take care, Heather."

After 25 years, Ray has had a hell of a run and was ready to retire. This is when Julia Ignatova, a third generation baker, found out about the awesomeness of DessertWerks and offered to buy the business from Ray. Today, Julia continues on with the same classic recipes that made DessertWerks a success, while adding on her old family recipes with a modern twist.
